Australian Gold Index Appeal UPDATE 7 June, 2002 According to our 007 agent in Oz: "The Australian Gold Council is in negotiations to reinstate the gold sector index after Standard & Poor's ceased to operate a gold specific index in early April as part of its move towards global indices." and after "a lot of heat from investor enquiries." AGC chief executive Tamara Stevens said. "We have been deluged with investors wanting to know what has happened and why. "We are involved with a number of organisations to have it reinstated which we are attempting to do in the short term before the day-end reporting ceases."
