Precious Metals Market Timing
Gold Triangles

Ron Rosen
May 2, 2005

Triangles in your social or married life can lead to a great deal of trouble, frustration and loss of money. For some strange reason triangles on a gold chart can do the same thing. They can excite your imagination, amongst other things, and cause you to make the wrong move. I am not saying that triangles can't produce lasting happiness. However if you are going to rely on a triangle on a gold chart to produce profits it may be a prudent idea to see how well this triangle has performed in the past, particularly on a gold chart. To that end I have posted two sets of charts. The first set is a daily and weekly from December 1974 and the second set is a daily and weekly from December 2004. While you are reviewing these charts I would ask you to consider the possibility that there may be a 30 year cycle sneaking up on us. There is much being written about this beautiful triangle on the gold chart we are living with today. Beautiful?

Maybe, maybe not.

The triangle "affair" in early 1975 led to much unhappiness, displeasure and loss of money to the optimistic and bullishly inclined.

Ouch! Much displeasure.

Looks familiar. 1975 repeat??

Perhaps we should befriend those two old fashioned New England Maidens, Prudence and Patience, at least for awhile.

If I have placed the long Term (yellow) Delta Turning Points in the proper place it would appear that this triangle in the Gold charts will be resolved to the downside. However I have been known to "act" improperly on occasion so there is hope for the Bulls.

This is May first, better known as" May Day," the day some folks dance around a Maypole. For us "Salty" old "Swabbies" "May Day" has a different and more unpleasant meaning. Perhaps some can draw their own lines and or conclusions. I've drawn mine.
